Class B regional final: North Salem vs. Malverne

1:30: MALVERNE WINSÂ 57-56. Details in a second.Â
Ok, here is what happened in the final 24 seconds. NS had the ball up 56-55 with 24 seconds left. Josh O’Neil got stripped—possibly fouled—and Malverne had the ball. Malverned missed its first two shots but got the offensive rebound both times and then Shamel White had a tip-in with six seconds left. NS wasn’t granted a timeout until 4.2 seconds left. After the timeout, NS had trouble getting the ball in, and when it finally did, it was a bit out of sorts. NS was unable to get a shot off before the buzzer. It did not advance the ball beyond halfcourt.
1:28: Malverne leads 57-56 with 4.2 seconds left. NS has the ball under its own basket. Â
1:27: NS leads 56-55 with 23.4 seconds left. After O’Neil hit his free throw, D.J. Williams came down and hit a 3-pointer for Malverne. NS will have the ball after the timeout.Â
1:25: NS leads 55-52 with 36.7 seconds left. Josh O’Neil is about to go the free throw line for the second of two free throws after a timeout.Â
1:23: NS leads 54-52 with 1:01 left. Malverne has the ball.Â
1:19:Â GAME IS TIED 52-52Â with 2:11 left. Marc Miller just hit a putback to tie the score. It’s the first tie score since 4-4. NS is on a 14-2 run.Â
1:17:Â Malverne leads 52-50 with 3:20 left in the game.Â
1:16: Malverne leads 50-48 with 4:07 left. Greg Shea hit a 3-pointer. The place is going insane.Â
1:13: Malverne leads 50-45 with 6:10 left. Tom Kruze just hit a 3-pointer. A 7-0 NS run to start quarter.
1:10: Malverne leads 50-42 with 6:52 left. Marc Miller hit two baskets to start quarter.
1:07: Malverne leads 50-38 after three. Dashiem Cherry hit a 3-pointer for Malverne at the buzzer. It’s Malverne’s biggest lead of the game. Â
1:02: Malverne up 45-34 with 2:05 left in third.Â
12:57: Malverne up 39-32 with 3:53 left in third. Â
12:52:Â Malverne up 37-30 with 5:35 left in third.Â
12:48: Malverne up 31-28 with 7:15 left in third. Â
12:36: Malverne leads 30-24 at the half. Some stats: Greg Shea leads NS with 8 points. Marc Miller has four points and nine rebounds, and has only taken two shots. NS coach Henry Sassone has been imploring his team to get the ball inside more, but the fast pace has made that difficult. NS has 19 turnovers. Kadeem Bell has 10 points for Malverne, including three 3-pointers. Malverne has hit six 3-pointers in the game.Â
12:27:Â Malverne leads 26-22 with 2:18 left in half.Â
12:23: Malverne leads 23-15 with 4:35 left in half. Josh O’Neil is really struggling thus far for NS. He’s 0-for-6 from the field. I really think NS has to avoid getting into a running game. Â
12:21: Still 18-13 Malverne. 5:30 to play in half. Refs calling very few fouls—both ways.  For those of you who like to say “let them play” you would love this game. Â
12:14: Malverne leads 18-13 after the first quarter. Malverne has hit four 3-pointers so far, and most have been open looks. The pace might be just a bit quicker than NS would prefer.  NS had 10 turnovers in the first quarter.
12:08: Malverne leads 13-9 with 2:46 left in the first. Greg Shea has 6 points for NS. Game has tremendous pace right now. I still can’t fathom how many NS fans are here. Â
12:05: Game tied 4-4 with 4:45 left in first. Â
12:01: Jeff Gold here providing a live blog. Game has just started. Scoreless with 7:00 left in first. NS fans outnumber Malverne fans by an 87-1 ratio.Â
11:40 p.m. – Alex Myers here greeting you from sunny SUNY New Paltz! Okay, so I lied. It’s pouring up here just like it is in Westchester. Genius that I am didn’t bring an umbrella again like last night even though I knew it was raining… We’re about 30 minutes away from the Class B regional final between North Salem and Section 8’s Malverne.
Incredibly, half of this large gym is almost completely filled with North Salem fans that have been here for about an hour according to fellow Team Journal News member Rick Carpiniello. What an amazing crowd. I saw a bunch of North Salem-ites tailgating in one of the parking lots before hand as well. Those people better get in here fast if they want a seat.
Jeff Gold will be blogging for this game and I’ll handle those duties for the following game, the Class C regional final between Tuckahoe and Friends Academy. So keep it here for all the latest.

Don’t understand your comment….
NS was amything but obnoxious. Stood back and took all the BS and silly comments from BCLIFF and just played and beat them soundly.
Move on or get help.
hahaahaaaa thats the funniest thing i have ever seen
... ...
You need to get a clue!!!!
Drunk, fat and stupid is no way to go through life son….
Stay away from the weed too.
Malverne
Funniest thing you’ve seen ….. Please don’t make me comment – that’s too open an opportunity to respond.
Again – class is something to appreciate. Obviously too complicated a concept for you. Let’s stick to “See spot run” – that appears to be more your speed.
gshea chill with the posting…i think you actually have half the posts in this blog…
... ...
You display the intelligence of a mid-sized trout. I suggest you take up fishing instead of basketball blog posting.
You NS fans are trying to outsmart people on a place where any one can say anything they want, you’re season is over. There is nothing left to say. Get it?
gshea,
If you are the shea that was on the NS roster, you suck. Nuff said. You can’t hide behind the rest of your teams accomplishments forever. Plain and simple-You can’t ball son.
North Salem played an amazing game yesterday and even though they had lost in the last 30 seconds they are still winners and everyone from North Salem is proud of them. I am not going to blame the refs or anything but there were a couple of major calls that they missed. Congratulations guys and we made it a lot farther then people were expecting us too. The 1000 North Salem fans that were at that game are all proud and great season
Malverne,
North Salem, the town, the team, the coach (if you watched Channel 12) have all accepted the Malverne loss; if you were at the game, we stayed on our feet and applauded their team’s victory. They were the better team. There is no argument.
However, it is sad that there are still, I’m guessing Briarcliff fans, masquerading with names like “Malverne” who obviously haven’t accepted their team’s 2nd place finish in Section 1, which is sad.
By the way, Greg Shea played a great game yesterday, if you actually had been there. His shooting kept NS in it.
And last but not least, you wrote, “you’re season is over”. That actually means “you are season is over.” You may want to repeat 4th grade English before writing anything more here.
This is my last post on the topic. It signifies my last thoughts on congratulating my own team, North Salem on all their accomplishments, and all the other teams who either competed or are continuing on.
If you wish to continue to spend your time writing ignorant, negative and grammatically wrong posts, feel free to waste your time.
We’ve moved on to cheering for our spring sports teams, starting today.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
this is not english class NSnation get out of here
gshea
Dont worry, when the medication kicks in youll be fine! Your team did a nice job, its okay to let it all out, feel better now? Drinking and weed on a HS hoop blog? So much for class and character…

Hey …
Really Does it hurt?
I got nothing but love for ya…
I’m from north salem and i saw the whole game up close…there were some missed calls but nothing huge so people really need to stop complaining…Overall the refs were pretty consistent with letting the physical play go….i believe if north salem played malverne again they would surely have the upper hand, but thats not how it is…malverne played a great game and in the clutch, even with a lucky tip in, came through…but that’s high school basketball…..great season north salem…for a school that was only 4 students over the line for B u did a great job.
all i gotta say is next year, soccer season….watch out for North Salem!
... and mike thomas, all I can say to you is:
stay in school and try and stay off the pipe.
...
did it hurt when you lsot to us in sectional finals? so shut your mouth
HEY…Says
Just got back on the blog to see the utter nonsense that is you…
The question posed to you was;
“Does it hurt?”

Great Season NS Tigers and know that no matter what NS is in the books as the SECTION B CHAMPS!!!!!!! Chew on that …Says and every other moron on this blog slamming North Salem.
Well Done Tigers as always you make us proud with your sportsmanship and remember at least your team will not be remembered for the poor display Briarcliff showed 3,000 people…
